Day01MAR 1

Santiago

Santiago is Chile's vibrant capital and the center of the country's queer culture, offering a lively gay scene with numerous bars, clubs, and cafes. The city boasts grand historical landmarks like Plaza de Armas and La Moneda Presidential Palace, alongside bohemian neighborhoods including Lastarria, Bellas Artes, Bellavista, and Providencia. Visitors can enjoy great dining, cool nightlife, cable car rides up Cerro San Cristóbal (Metropolitan Park), and explore the city's rich history through walking tours that highlight both cultural heritage and LGBTQ+ significance. Santiago is known as a safe and welcoming destination for LGBTQ+ travelers.

Easter Island (Rapa Nui)

Easter Island, known locally as Rapa Nui, is a remote Chilean Polynesian island renowned for its monumental moai statues, volcanic landscapes, archaeological sites, and distinctive Rapa Nui culture. Hanga Roa is the island’s main settlement and base for visitors. Most major historical sites are within Rapa Nui National Park, and visitors should plan for park-entry requirements and, for many sites, a licensed guide. Activities include visiting moai platforms and quarries, hiking volcanic terrain, exploring ceremonial villages, and enjoying beaches and ocean views.

Easter Island (Rapa Nui) - Rano Raraku & Ahu Tongariki

Rano Raraku and Ahu Tongariki are two of Rapa Nui’s most important archaeological sites within Rapa Nui National Park. Rano Raraku is the volcanic quarry where most moai were carved, with unfinished statues scattered across the slopes and crater. Nearby Ahu Tongariki is the island’s largest ceremonial platform, restored with 15 monumental moai and especially popular at sunrise. Visitors generally need a Rapa Nui National Park entrance ticket, and guided cultural, hiking, horseback-riding, and LGBTQ+ itineraries are available on the island.

Easter Island (Rapa Nui) - Rano Kau & Orongo

Rano Kau and Orongo are major archaeological and natural attractions on the southwestern peninsula of Rapa Nui (Easter Island), reached from Hanga Roa. Rano Kau is an extinct volcanic crater with a dramatic ocean-facing rim and crater lake, while nearby Orongo is a ceremonial village associated with the historic Birdman competition. The area forms part of Rapa Nui National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Atacama Desert (via Calama)

The Atacama Desert is one of the world's driest landscapes and is typically visited via El Loa Airport in Calama, followed by a transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. San Pedro serves as the main base for excursions to salt flats, high-altitude lagoons, geysers, volcanic valleys and exceptionally clear night skies. Visitors should allow time to acclimatize because many excursions reach high elevations.

Valley of the Moon, Atacama

Valley of the Moon (Valle de la Luna) is a striking desert landscape near San Pedro de Atacama in northern Chile. Its monumental sand dunes, wind-carved rock formations, salt-covered surfaces, and barren terrain create an otherworldly setting. The valley is especially popular for sunset excursions, when the changing light intensifies the reds and oranges of the landscape. Visits are commonly arranged through organized tours or by private vehicle from San Pedro de Atacama.

Atacama Salt Flat

The Atacama Salt Flat (Salar de Atacama) is a vast high-altitude salt basin in Chile’s Atacama Desert, near San Pedro de Atacama. Its bright salt crust, volcanic horizons, lagoons, and abundant flamingos make it one of the region’s defining landscapes. It is commonly visited as part of excursions from San Pedro, often combined with highland lagoons, desert viewpoints, sunset sites, and stargazing. Visitors should be prepared for intense sun, very dry conditions, and altitude at nearby attractions.

Puritama Conservation Reserve, Atacama

Puritama Conservation Reserve is a protected 7,000-hectare area in the Atacama Desert, approximately 60 km north of San Pedro de Atacama. Its high-altitude desert landscapes shelter native plants and wildlife, while the Puritama River runs through a canyon to form a series of naturally warm thermal pools. The reserve is best known for the Puritama Hot Springs and can be visited through guided excursions and advance-reserved entry.
